Seen some postings in the "Accepted Birth Year" thread, but I thought it would be good to leave this separate to not destroy the Overview in the accepted Birth Year thread. |

But in some profiles he's also credited as Michael Beck, so it's also needed. Common name can change and not all users use linking of names. | | | Last edited: April 10, 2010 8:46 AM by VirusPil |

Birth years are only allowed to distinguish between identical common names. If one them is mostly credited under a different name variant, then no birth years are necessary - instead we use the common name to distinguish one from the other. |

Don't want to start a discussion, but what about users that don't know the common name? They've in this case not the possibility to distinguish. |

| Posted: April 10, 2010 7:09 PM | | | | I think it's a good idea to collect such BYs in this thread anyway, for users who want to use that locally (if we can find them in the first place). I tend to use BYs locally for names that are sufficiently/suspiciously familiar. It is not uncommon for common names to change. | | | Hans |

Generally, when you're doing the research to find birth years, that means you'll stumble upon possible name variants right then and there: many of the sites listing birth years also present known name variants. Birth years and common are really two facets of one process: researching those people. If you're trying to document which credit belongs to which actor, you're pretty much bound to stumble upon a list of known name variants as well. It's all part of the research process; you really can't separate the two. Generally, I've found that the people who care enough about cast and crew data to be busy adding birth years where needed, are the same people who have the common names in their database sorted out nicely as well. |

| Posted: April 12, 2010 12:19 AM | | | | I feel that in the Years to come... Profiler will have YOD ... which makes sense as I often wonder if old such and such is still alive ... and this could also be a benchmark to the ones who are very much alive with the same name ... | | | In the 60's, People took Acid to make the world Weird. Amanda Walker (19??) - US actress (A League of Their Own) http://akas.imdb.com/name/nm1042298/ http://ftvdb.bfi.org.uk/sift/individual/1070095
Couldn't find any BY. Perhaps someone else has more luck?
Several sites don't distinguish betwenn the two Amanda Walker's, so I'm not entirely sure about it... But I have a headshot of a much younger Amanda Walker in my db (not added by me).

EDIT: I don't own A League of Their Own, I only came across it when I searched for new headshots... EDIT2: That's the image in HSDBv5. Couldn't find proof that she's actually the Amanda Walker from A League of Their Own, though. Quote: Btw, what I found nice: No birth year on imdb, but the exact height with 1,63 m. Let's just use that as BY
