So, is the Online Database coming back, or......?

It's back, you can submit contributions, and contributions prior to the crash are now being approved.

The fact that it takes so long to fix it makes me think that Ken is not involved.

I don't believe that to be the case.

For me it appears like DVD Profiler can't download the profile list when attempting to add new profiles, but it turns out that this is not the case.

First time starting to add new profiles on a particular day, I can see the status message "Connecting to Invelos Software" with the Cancel button.

Underneath it there's a partially obscured small error message dialog box with message "Unexpected end of file".

However, I can drag the small "Unexpected end of file" dialog box to be completely visible and if I just click Ok in that dialog box, I can start entering new profiles and the details for those profiles that are already in the central DB get pulled to my local without problems.

In summary, I can add new profiles in to my local DB without problems; there's just seems to be a superfluous "end of file" error message. At least I haven't come across any issues so far.

It seems there's an online issue with the data for the OnlineProfile.dod file. If you remove, or rename, this file it should get recreated based on the data downloaded, but currently it will not. Therefore, if you don't have this file locally, you can't add new profiles.

Copy the OnlineList.dod file from your old laptop to your new laptop. The file location should be:

[drive]:\Users\[user account]\AppData\Local\DVD Profiler

Invelos just replaced their server so there are still some side effects. The is an end of file error message window that pops up behind another popup. If you drag that window out from under the other popup you can select OK and then it will proceed and allow you to added or contribute new profiles.

When I try to refresh profiler I get a Unexpected End of File message. I'll wait a few more days and hope it fixes' itself.

As did I, but click OK and it will download and upload just fine.

Certain features are currently offline due to a server move.

^ That may not be applicable anymore as it doesn't show up as an option in my copy of Win11.

Since Ken will never be available to modify the rules again, we have to operate on what makes the most logical sense.

Why would he never be able to modify the rules again? Not saying that he would, but why can't he?

Agree with Danae Cassandra on this. Don't read to much into it, GSyren.

I have not, but I have noticed this company (advertisements) have starting popping up on social media recently.

Ok, I wonder if T!M updated more than one profile, because I got perhaps half a dozen mismatches.

I think that is likely because he tends to update cast and crew for a given film across profiles.

I don't think the CLT is broken. I downloaded the profile and then tried recontributing without changes and to my surprise the cast and crew were much different. It looks like T!M submitted a contribution to the cast and crew on 14 Jan 2024 which were approved today on 19 Jan 2024. His changes use "Paull Walia" so it seems not all changes have completely updated throughout the system.

They're releasing elsewhere, they're just not releasing it in the UK which I think is the right thing to do.

If the item in question is from Argentina then I'd have to question it's legitimacy. According to the GS1, this is a US UPC owned by Alliance Entertainment Corporation in the US.

EDIT: When Evil Lurks was released to Blu-ray in the US by RJL Entertainment under UPC: 014381004458. Can you provide photos of the item you have? From what retailer did you obtain this copy?

I have an update to one contribution from 27 Dec which has one vote which was skipped over. Plus two additional initial (new) contributions from 29 and 30 Dec which have also been skipped over. Everything else was for updates to existing contributions which have all been approved and/or released.

This is what the guidelines list for SRP:

Quote:
Use the SRP (Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price) at the time of the DVD’s original release using the currency type matching the locality of the DVD.

In the UK, quoted prices for everything always include tax (Value Added Tax in our case).  No one in day to day conversation talks about non VAT prices, unless they're moaning about paying VAT in general on certain things and not on others!  The only people buying anything who're interested in net of VAT prices are businesses, as they can sometimes claim it back.  Prices in shops and online almost always include VAT, unless it's a seller focused on business customers, where they sometimes exclude the VAT in the primary cost they advertise.

Is there actually a formal description of what SRP is?

Not that I'm very interested in SRP prices one way or the other, as they seem pretty meaningless these days and I actually clear that field in my local database.

SRP, or sometimes you see MSRP, is usually the recommended price from the manufacturer that the retailer should should sell the item at. From my experience, that doesn't include tax.

But yes, there are many countries that require the advertised price from the retailer to the consumer to include the tax. However, there are many others that do not.

If you import from a country that requires tax to be included in the advertised price, but the consumer doesn't live within the boundaries of said country then the tax may be subtracted from the advertised price. In essance, in these situations, the consumer is being charged the base price.

The SRP is typically without tax.

Only in the US.

Not just in the US. But even those countries which require retailers to add the tax to the advertised price (i.e. EU), there's still a base SRP that is used to base the tax percentage on.

Weird that you can't slow it down more than 0.5x. Why not use the frame advance option? That way you can at least pause the stream in close proximity to the intended credits then advance frame by frame until you see the credits you want.

The rating on the cover. Remember there can be different cuts and it's possible the version used was not rated and different from the one that received the PG rating.

I recently made an interesting discovery. I updated some profiles that were missing color information. Most of them also had some other changes; birth year, common name or whatever. But the ones that had only color information added were approved immediately.

I can only surmise that this is bug in the bot. While color info is a very simple piece of information, it's not so simple that you cannot get it wrong. I have seen that happen. So it should be voted on.

There's been a bug for the Dynamic Range since 2017. If someone is submitting profile changes along with the color format, but they don't have the dynamic range set, the dynamic range change won't show up on the contribution and it will remove the dynamic range when the profile is approved.
