P.S.: Skip is a fascist bastard.
Totally uncalled for ...
This was intended to be funny, which it was. Hopefully if you read it again you might see the humor?
Sorry Fubar ... generally when someone is trying to convey something that is funny they use something like after the statement. I did not see that anywhere in the post. Sorry if I did not get the gist of it. Lastly, if Skip would have made a comment like this he would have been crucified, lets at least be consistent. |

So is this "Thank you Skip!" thread after this post by skipnet50 a crucification, a joke - or something else? | | | Matthias | | | Last edited: by goodguy |

Quote: @ MrBurns: You just delivered a very fine occasion to see if the red button really works. I can tell you it does. Your PS, even though it's your opinion should have been kept as such. I'm not quite sure about Skip's family situation nor about his political orientation but neither of this has to be a topic in this forum. I just got a negative for this, can't really believe it. I still don't see it as a joke, not even as satire. Now I understand why some people prefer to give negative marks anonymously, I still prefer to say that I did give a negative (it was my first) and why.
So, to the anonymous who didn't even have the guts to say why: What was it for? For giving a negative in general, or for not understanding a "joke" that was at it's best inappropriate?
Both doesn't justify a negative because both isn't violating any forum rules. The "anonymous" PM'ed me and explained to me why I got this negative vote. I reexplained my reasons for the negative vote for MrBurns and the anonymous withdrew the negative for me. All's OK now EDIT: As Darxon pointed out, anyone who followed the forum for a while knew who it was, so I removed all personal references to this user. | | | It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up! Personal dislikes are NOT valid reasons for negative reputation points, especially if those are handed out to users who are not even the person disliked only voicing their opinion. @Martin: If you really feel the need to put fuel to the flames, at least do it in the thread you're referring to. In this here thread Skip posted twice and didn't call anyone unintelligent or acting like an idiot. Enjoy your dinner. @Goodguy It just shows that your post with the link to another thread and the provocative question connected with it have achieved your goal, to fuel a discussion (again) that we could do very well without. It is this kind of behavior from both sides that won't let this matter come to rest, EVER! But hey, without this, these forums would be far more boring.... | | | Lutz | | | Last edited: by Darxon |

It seems perfectly legitimate to me to point out the irony of a "Thank You" thread less than a week after said user posted such disdain for this entire community and has not apologized or removed the post. | | | Hal | | | Last edited: by hal9g |

| Posted: | | | | Well, then you guys should maybe address the person that started this here "Thank you" thread and jump down HIS throat and get personal, don't you think? This "Thank you" thread is very well understandable in content and intent from the first posting, so I fail to see the need to discuss this matter any further. And why should Skip apologize? I'm pretty damn sure he still feels pretty much the same about some of the users on board, and vice versa.
BTW, linking the "Final Post" lead (as expected, I'd say) to someone else re-heating the argument we had back in that thread after the original posting. So what's the use? Didn't get your remark in on time and feel left out or wasn't there enough input in the first thread to be done with it? At least fuel the flames where the embers are smoldering, don't light up a new place. | | | Lutz |

| Posted: | | | | The person who started this thread had every right to start it and express his feelings about Skip's return, just as Goodguy nad I have every right to point out the irony at the creation of the thread, in this thread!
If you don't see any reason why Skip owes this community an apology after collectively calling us "unintelligent" and "ingrates" then there's not much more to be said. | | | Hal |

| Posted: | | | | Perhaps Hal, has a point. I shouldn't tar the entire Community with the same brush which belongs to just a few. But as I have noted previously on numerous occossions if those users and I could provide a list, some of them have come to this thread, would behave following the SAME standards they attempt to hold me to, then we would all be far better off, The entire barrel, unfortunately has been spoiled by a very few very rotten apples. That, to me is very sad, especially when I note how the Rep system has rewarded the truly disgusting behavior of a few users. I again tell those users and I really doubt that i have to provide a list, to look to your own behavior and CORRECT it BEFORE you attempt to judge me or any other users comments or motives. Thanks to all for the kind comments.

Skip The reputation system doesn't reward people. The community can reward someone with a positive vote. If the community likes what people are posting, they the can reward them with a green arrow. If you post enough things the community likes, you will earn a star. If you continue to post things that the community likes you will be rewarded with a second star. (just what one has to do to get that third star is yet to be seen ) I guess my point is just because you think these few users have behaved disgustingly the community in general doesn't agree with you. And I can tell you from experience it takes numerous positive votes from multiple people to earn stars. The occasional single positive vote on a post won't do it. A small group can't vote each other into stardom just as that same group can't keep someone from earning a star. To quote the presidential hopeful Ms. Clinton "It takes a village" I'm certainly not saying I'm better or worse than anyone else, and yes, I have earned multiple negative votes but I will say if you think the reputation system rewards people who behave disgustingly then I suggest you re-evaluate just what is considered disgusting. Too bad Skip won't see this. Oh well, it was good to get off my chest anyway. Quoting skipnet50:Quote: Let me put it this way, James. I find nearly every one of Rick's comments so rude and offensive that he is one of a select few users that I have blocked in the forums so that I no longer have to view his comments. |
