It will be my pleasure to add your improvements (edit: done ) . Thanks. So, I assume you got it working, right?
As far as SideA, SideB is concerned, I didn't think about that because LoadDVD was originally for changers. There are no changers in wide use that can select the disc side to play, and the eject-style carousels, such as Dacal, hand you the disc anyway. You decide which side to play manually. So, I have to give some thought to the hard disk format, and how to make a simple change that allows a different trailer to be selected for a side.
Probably something like (until then, maybe Giga's idea will do for you):
<a disc=2 side=A href="c:\mymovies\mytrailer.avi">Play Me</a> , defaults to side=A if missing
or
[filepath disc=1 side=B ]e:\mymovies\starwars.iso[/filepath] A little off topic here, but I went to your site to download the BulkEdit plugin but get directed to a page that says your account has been suspended? Too much traffic? | | | My WebGenDVD online Collection |

| Posted: | | | | I've finally got all my DVD's catalogued and am now in the process of setting up the Play/Retrieve feature to play them from my media server [ \\Media\DVDs\<dvd name> ] The multiple disk setup is kicking my tail For example, this works perfectly for 24 Season 1 (with "Play" in the Location field: [filepath disc=1]\\Media\DVDs\24\24 - S1 - D1\Video_ts\Video_ts.ifo[/filepath] [filepath disc=2]\\Media\DVDs\24\24 - S1 - D2\Video_ts\Video_ts.ifo[/filepath] [filepath disc=3]\\Media\DVDs\24\24 - S1 - D3\Video_ts\Video_ts.ifo[/filepath] [filepath disc=4]\\Media\DVDs\24\24 - S1 - D4\Video_ts\Video_ts.ifo[/filepath] [filepath disc=5]\\Media\DVDs\24\24 - S1 - D5\Video_ts\Video_ts.ifo[/filepath] [filepath disc=6]\\Media\DVDs\24\24 - S1 - D6\Video_ts\Video_ts.ifo[/filepath] But this virtually identical sequence for Season 3 gives a "Disk Eject Failed" message for any disc except #1: [filepath disc=1]\\Media\DVDs\24\24 - S3 - D1\Video_ts\Video_ts.ifo[/filepath][filepath disc=2]\\Media\DVDs\24\24 - S3 - D2\Video_ts\Video_ts.ifo[/filepath] [filepath disc=3]\\Media\DVDs\24\24 - S3 - D3\Video_ts\Video_ts.ifo[/filepath] [filepath disc=4]\\Media\DVDs\24\24 - S3 - D4\Video_ts\Video_ts.ifo[/filepath] [filepath disc=5]\\Media\DVDs\24\24 - S3 - D5\Video_ts\Video_ts.ifo[/filepath] [filepath disc=6]\\Media\DVDs\24\24 - S3 - D6\Video_ts\Video_ts.ifo[/filepath] [filepath disc=7]\\Media\DVDs\24\24 - S3 - D7\Video_ts\Video_ts.ifo[/filepath] In fact, I have the same problem with Seasons 2 through 6 of the 24 series, but Season 1 works perfectly !! The ONLY difference is the filename of the discs -- in fact I copy/pasted the "Notes" section from Season 1 to all of the other seasons and just edited the "S1" to the appropriate season [But I also tried retyping the whole sequence to see if that would fix it for other seasons -- and it doesn't. Any ideas?? |

(should be "Disc Eject", sorry) means that default changer = Dacal and Location / Slot are empty. Each disc definition has to have Location = play and if appropriate, a slot value. The filepath spec in Notes corresponds one to one with the disc records. Default changer is ignored if play is coded in the location field of the disc record. | | | Thanks for your support. Try putting some spaces or dummy text between the filepath specs. | Posted: | | | | The space vs. no space between the closing [/filepath] and next leading [filepath] was an attempt to see if that would make a difference (it didn't).
What's REALLY interesting is that if I copy the entire "Notes" field from my 24 Season 1 entry and paste it into 24 Season 2, Season 3, etc. NONE of the later seasons work even though Season 1 works perfectly. The other seasons just play the first disc -- otherwise they just give the "Disk Eject Failed" message !! (obviously they would be playing the wrong disc anyway if it worked --- they'd all play Season 1 discs) The ONLY difference in this case is the name of the DVD Profiler entry: "24: Season One", "24: Season Two", "24: Season Three"; etc. All have "Play" in the location field (I've tried "Play", "play"; and "PLAY" just to be sure case differences didn't have an impact). I also modified the PlayFromDisk.BAT file so DVD's, BluRay's, and HDDVD's all have the same action -- just in case somehow the later seasons were being flagged as the wrong disc type. NOTHING helps !!
Just for grins, here are the actions in the PlayFromDisk.BAT file: if %7=="DVD" "C:\Program Files\Cyberlink\PowerDVD8\PowerDVD8.exe" %6 if %7=="HD" "C:\Program Files\Cyberlink\PowerDVD8\PowerDVD8.exe" %6 if %7=="BluRay" "C:\Program Files\Cyberlink\PowerDVD8\PowerDVD8.exe" %6
I won't be home until very late tonight ... but I'll give the alternative sequence you suggested a try.
<a disc=2 href="\\Media\DVDs\24\24 - S1 - D1\Video_ts\Video_ts.ifo">ignored</a>
Does "ignored" mean I can put anything there and it's ignored ... or does it mean to be the text "ignored" ??
Are there any changer settings that might modify the behavior? I've played just a bit with them to see if that would resolve this; but didn't find anything that helped.
I'll post the results of trying the alternative sequence later tonight. | | | Last edited: by garycase |

Let's make sure we are on the same page. This is what should work: - You have a separate profile for each season of 24 - Within each profile, you have multiple discs defined (if season 3 has 3 discs, you should have 3 discs defined in that profile) - For each disc, there is a separate Location field. The word play needs to be in each one. Nothing needs to be in slot unless you are using that info in some way, which it apperas you are not. I'm getting the impression is that you have coded play only on disc 1 of each profile. Please confirm. If this is the case, even the alternate form will fail for everything except disc 1. This is the same information I gave you in the prior post, stated in a different way, but so far you haven't confirmed. ("ignored" means that the text is ignored, or should be). | | | Thanks for your support. Free Plugins available here. Advanced plugins available here. Hey, new product!!! | Posted: | | | | I have a separate profile for each Season (1 - 6) of 24. Each profile has a child profile for each disc; and EVERY profile has "Play" in the Notes field. The child profiles each have an entry to allow directly playing that disc ... e.g. [filepath]\\Media\DVDs\24\24 - S2 - D4\Video_ts\Video_ts.ifo[/filepath] is the entry for disk 4 of Season 2. ... and they ALL work perfectly. In addition, I've listed the appropriate number of discs in each "master" profile -- the idea being I could play any disc directly from that without having to open the child profiles. They're ALL configured exactly the same -- but only Season 1 works !!! i.e. here's the structure for Season Two (all of the seasons look the same except for the # of discs): 24: Season Two 24:Season Two: Disc One 24:Season Two: Disc Two 24:Season Two: Disc Three 24:Season Two: Disc Four 24:Season Two: Disc Five 24:Season Two: Disc Six 24:Season Two: Disc Seven Of course I only see the child profiles if I click the "+" sign by "24:Season Two" ... and my goal was to not have to do that. I've got a LOT of series discs that I play to set up the same way, so it'd sure be nice to get this working. Hopefully the alternative syntax will work -- I'll try it late tonight and let you know. |

| Posted: | | | | BINGO !!!!
Just re-read your last post => while all of the child profiles are set up correctly; the individual disc fields in the master profile were not !! You're absolutely right -- "Play" wasn't in all of the location fields there. Apparently I'd done that for Season One a couple weeks ago ... but then spent a couple weeks ripping DVD's and updating DVD Profiler and forgot I needed to do this for the later seasons.
I'm not home at the moment (at a friends -- but have Profiler on my laptop so I just confirmed that structure) ... but I'm certain that's the issue => I'll add all the "Play"s when I get home and I'm sure all will be well !!
Sorry for the long and unnecessary posts r.e. a non-existent problem !! |

| Posted: | | | | Edit: Ok, you got it! BulkEdit was designed to let you update a whole bunch of Location fields at one time. | Posted: | | | | "... play needs to be in the Location fiield of each disc in each profile, not Notes." ==> That was an error in my post. All of my "Play" entries are in the location fields -- but as I just noted, I did not have it in the rest of the discs for the master profiles in Seasons 2 through 6. |

You know this raises a possible new feature. If I add "Play" to the list of default changers, you wouldn't need to code anything if that's all you ever needed to use LoadDVD for. Sorry I don't have that feature now, but due to your suffering, it will be there for future generations. | | | Thanks for your support. Free Plugins available here. Advanced plugins available here. | Posted: | | | | "... If I add "Play" to the list of default changers .." ==> GREAT Idea !! Now if I can just figure out a way to assign a remote control key to the "Play" button !! (I started to work on this a month or so ago, but got sidetracked by (a) ripping all my DVD's to the media server (now done); (b) adding everything to DVD Profiler (done, but still "cleaning up" a bit for the episode sets ... structuring them like I did with 24); and (c) adding the links so LoadDVD will automatically play them all (just started -- and about 2000 to go !!). NEXT project will be the remote control assignment |

No. It crashes often, when Profiler will be closed. I'm sorry about that. Somebody else reported a similar problem, but so far I have not been able to figure it out. Maybe you could use the HTML section technique until I can fix the problem. Take a look at Layouts Forum for how to play trailers from your Notes. LoadDVD can use filepaths in the form <a href="path to my file">Play Trailer</a>, so later on, you don't need to make new filepaths. | | | Thanks for your support. Free Plugins available here.
