| Posted: | | | | I entered a support ticket for this, but we all know Mr. Cole & crew are very busy people so I thought the knowledgable folk here may be able to help. I have submitted a fair amount of DVDs to the database so I'm positive I know how to do it correctly. In fact, I submitted 3 over the last couple of days with the first one being "released" but the second two being "declined."
Here is the source of my confusion. They were all legitimate release DVDs purchased through Amazon (and are also available through DDD), one made by Buena Vista and the other two by Legend / Hollywood. The first one by Legend/Hollywood was the one which was "released" but the other two were declined with a response of "Sources for one or more of the changes and/or additions were not submitted. Please include the sources for your changes in the contribution notes, especially for cast and crew additions."
Of course, none of these 3 DVDs existed in the database so they should not be declined due to "changes and/or additions" as none were made being an all-new submission. Anyone have an inkling of what is going on?
kindest regards, Galina |

| Posted: | | | | It said right there. "Sources were not submitted."
If you don't given sources to anything you submit, more than likely they will be declined. Even for new submissions, you must document where you got the information you are submitting. |

| Posted: | | | | I'm not sure if this is what your problem is, but recently Ken announced that we now need to supply contribution notes for new submissions as well. It's only come into effect recently, which is why some of your submissions were accepted. You now need to say where all your information came from. for example if your new submission included cast & crew you now need to say "cast & crew taken from credits". I hope this helps! Edit: too late again - what the other guys said! | | | Last edited: by northbloke |

| Posted: | | | | New contributions are now being treated the same as any other contribution. You need a source for everything. |

| Posted: | | | | Just means you need to quote sources for changes/additions whether they are new profiles or not... matter of fact that is why Ken turned on the contribution notes for new profiles. They use to submit automatically before he decided to get stricter on the sources. | | | Pete |

No more contribution for me... I'm fed up with all those rules... I have contributed about 390 profiles, and many were not changed, or with small details (in countries that are smaller than US, there are not so many people who work for the others). But if Invelos doesn't want anymore my contributions, it's not really a problem for me... | | | Images from movies |

The Rules really aare NOT all that hard to follow. If you want help i will be more than happy to try, just let me know. Do they involve time and and effort...yes but it REALLY isn't hard.

Skip Thanks very much Skip. I agree with you, the rules are not hard to follow, but many are stupid (sorry, but I really think that). Up for now, I was used to create a new profile following the rules, than I contributed, then I modified the profiles for my own use and locked them. Now, it will be simplier, I'll just create the profile for me, and not contribute... | | | Images from movies |

| Posted: | | | | The only major change is that you need to note the change and the source in your notes. That way anyone voting or anyone contributing afterwards can see what has been done. It's for the good of the community. | | | Guns don't kill people. Hammers do. |

For example, I find the new rules about cast totally stupid (why not indicate an actor if he really plays in the movie ???) The more rules are decided, the more the differences between the profile I want and the profile that may be contributed is great. But there is a good solution to my problem : no more contribution... | | | Images from movies |

Skip I read this "The only way to add uncredited actors nowadays is to have documentation from an impeachable source (which is not IMDB)" Why not IMDB, if it is true??? And what if the source is that I recognized an actor? How to document it ? | | | Images from movies |
